Camellia flower lovers are counting the times until the annual camellia weekend at vergelegen in somerset west on 27 and 28 july. The 319-12 months-old wine estate ñ currently judged africaís great vineyard within the prestigious worldís high-quality vineyards competition ? is the region of south africaís best global camellia lawn of excellence. Vergelegen was presented this accolade nine years ago and is considered one of simplest 39 global camellia gardens of excellence inside the global, and one of best two inside the southern hemisphere. The exceptional pink, crimson and white blooms, representing about 550 camellia cultivars, are at their iciness-flowering height this month. Site visitors can view them at their leisure, or book locations on the 2 daily guided tours of the camellia lawn (on each saturday and sunday mornings and afternoons) accompanied via refreshments in the stables circle of relatives eating place. Every excursion, led through estate horticulturist richard arm, keeps for one and a 1/2 hours and accommodates 25 people.
